Who we are
DB Tax and Accounting Corp ("DB Tax," "we," "us") is a New York–based accounting practice led by Doina Bunescu, CPA and IRS Enrolled Agent. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website or engage us for tax, bookkeeping, payroll, or advisory services. For privacy questions, contact us at info@dbtaxaccounting.com or (929) 351-6583.
Information we collect
- Contact information you submit through our website or by email/phone: name, email, phone, service of interest, and message contents.
- Tax and financial information you provide once engaged: Social Security or Taxpayer ID numbers, W-2s/1099s, brokerage and bank statements, business books, prior returns, and related supporting documents. These are exchanged only through our encrypted client portal (Verifyle), never plain email.
- Technical data automatically logged by our hosting provider: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security and site reliability.
How we use your information
- To respond to inquiries and provide the tax, accounting, or advisory services you request.
- To prepare and file returns, correspond with tax authorities on your behalf, and maintain required professional records.
- To comply with our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations (IRS Circular 230, AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, NY State Board of Accountancy rules).
- To secure our systems and detect fraud or abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
IRS §7216 — Consent for tax return information
Under Internal Revenue Code §7216, tax return preparers may not use or disclose tax return information for any purpose other than preparing your return without your prior written consent. We will request that consent separately, in a signed document, before any such use or disclosure (for example, if we introduce a lending or financial-planning partner at your request). You are never required to grant such consent to receive tax preparation services.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (financial privacy)
As a financial institution under the GLBA Safeguards Rule, we maintain a written information security program that includes administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your nonpublic personal information.
Who we share information with
We share information only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers that support our practice under written confidentiality obligations: our encrypted portal (Verifyle), tax preparation software, e-file transmitters, cloud accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Xero), email and calendar providers.
- Government authorities when required for filing your returns or responding to lawful legal process.
- With your written consent, when you ask us to communicate with a lender, attorney, financial planner, or other party.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
- Access a copy of your personal information;
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to exceptions for records we must retain by law (e.g., completed tax returns and workpapers);
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information, so no opt-out is needed;
- Be free from retaliation for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@dbtaxaccounting.com. We will verify your identity before responding, typically within 45 days.
Other U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability. Contact us at the address above to exercise them.
Communications & TCPA
By submitting a form or providing your phone number, you agree that we may contact you by email, phone, or text about your inquiry or engagement. Standard messaging rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text or emailing us. We do not use your contact information for automated marketing campaigns.
Cookies & analytics
This site uses only essential cookies required for the site to function. We do not run advertising trackers, third-party analytics, or cross-site profiling. If that changes in the future, we will update this Policy and request your consent through the on-site banner before enabling any such tools.
Data retention
We retain client records for the period required by federal and state law and by professional standards — generally seven (7) years for tax return workpapers, and longer when records support carryovers, basis, or open matters. Website inquiries that do not become engagements are deleted within twelve (12) months.
Security
We use bank-grade encryption in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication for staff, least-privilege access, and a written incident-response plan. In the event of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and appropriate authorities as required by the New York SHIELD Act and other applicable state laws.
Children
Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
